The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, as announced by royal officials.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

Father and son were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the COP summit.

Official representatives have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as assuming an important role in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This engagement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

The COP30 summit will coincide with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.

Recently the William described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks confronting humanity over climate change, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the King told delegates.
